# Put a working cross-border take-home calculator on your own site

One script tag. It models UK limited companies, Portugal's IFICI regime,
Spain's Beckham regime, all 50 US states and 41 other countries, in the browser,
on your page, in your typography. There is no signup and no cost.

## Try it. This is the real thing, not a screenshot

Everything below is the same widget your visitors would get. Change the
corridor and the snippet updates with it.

Works in WordPress (a Custom HTML block), Squarespace
(a Code block), Webflow (an Embed element), HubSpot, Ghost, and any site where you
can paste HTML. If your CMS strips script tags, ask us and we will send an iframe
          version instead.

## Why you cannot easily build this yourself

A take-home calculator is a solved problem for one country and one
employment type. It stops being solved the moment a client has a company in one
country and a life in another.

### The company and the person are taxed separately

A UK limited company pays corporation tax before anything reaches the owner.
What is left is what can be declared as a dividend, so the personal calculation
depends on a number the company calculation produces. Getting this wrong is the
most common error in free calculators.

### Expat regimes change the answer more than anything else

On £120,000 through a UK company, a Portuguese resident on standard rates keeps
£58,587. The same person under IFICI keeps £91,932. That single election is worth
more than every other input on the form combined.

### The treaty sits in the middle

Dividend withholding at source, the foreign tax credit in the country of
residence, and whether social security is due in one country or both. Each pair of
          countries behaves differently.

### And then there are the 50 states

US federal is the easy part. California, New York plus New York City, Texas at
zero, and married filing jointly against single, all move the number materially.

## Installing it

### 1. Paste the snippet

Put the container div where you want the calculator, and the script tag anywhere on
the page. That is the whole integration.

### 2. Set your corridor

If you specialise in one route, set `data-from` and `data-to` and
your visitors land on the scenario that matters to them. A Portugal specialist should
          default to UK to Portugal.

### 3. Put your ref on it

`data-ref` is your identifier. It rides on every link back to us, so anyone
who arrives from your site is attributed to you. If we ever build a referral programme,
this is the field it runs on.

### Every option

          - data-from and data-to : two-letter country codes, for example GB, PT, ES, AE, US

          - data-currency : GBP, EUR or USD

          - data-income : the figure it opens on

          - data-earn : ltd, self or emp

          - data-theme : light, dark or auto

          - data-accent : any CSS colour, to match your brand

          - data-title : your own heading for the widget

          - data-ref : your attribution identifier

Multiple calculators on one page: give each container
`data-takehome-calc` and its own attributes. Attributes on a container override
the ones on the script tag.

## The terms, in full

          - It is free, with no usage limit and no key to manage.

          - Keep the "Powered by TakeHome" link visible. That is the entire price.

          - Use it on client-facing pages, in proposals, behind a login, wherever it helps.

          - We will tell you before anything about the calculation changes in a way that would change a number on your page.

          - Estimates are directional and the widget says so. It is not regulated tax advice and it does not replace you.

### What we get out of it

People who want a number today become people who want a plan next month, and those
people need an adviser. We would rather they meet you on your own page with a real
answer in front of them than bounce off a thin calculator somewhere else.

If you write about the tool or the regimes it models, link to the page you found most
useful rather than to this one. That helps us more than the widget link does, and it
gives your readers something to actually read.

## Questions

Will it slow my site down?

The script is about 12KB compressed and loads asynchronously, so it never blocks your
page rendering. It makes no network request until a visitor changes an input.

Does it collect data about my visitors?

No personal data, no cookies, no fingerprinting and no advertising tags. The calculator
sends the figures it needs to price a scenario, and an anonymous counter so we know how
many sites have it installed. Nothing typed into it is stored against a person.

Will it clash with my site's CSS?

No. It renders inside a shadow root, so your styles cannot break it and its styles
cannot leak into your page. Typography is the deliberate exception: it inherits your
font so it reads as part of your site rather than a bolted-on box.

How current are the tax rates?

The 2025/2026 year, with each country's own caveats shown underneath the result. Six
countries are modelled at lower confidence and the widget labels them as approximate
        rather than pretending otherwise.

Can I remove the attribution link?

Not on the free embed. If you need a white-label version for a client portal, email
us and we will talk about it.

Something looks wrong. Who do I tell?

Email hello@takehome.ai with the inputs you used. If a number is wrong we want to know
        more than you do.
